How do we choose to move through the world we create?

BODY · MOVEMENT · ENVIRONMENT

My work explores the relationship between the human body, movement and the environments we inhabit.

Through miniature figures, objects and altered scale, I create three-dimensional worlds that shift familiar perspectives and invite a closer look.

THE PROCESS

A Matter of Perspective

What appears flat from a distance reveals another dimension up close.

BIG WAVE, three-dimensional mixed-media artwork by Johannes Pommerien showing a miniature surfer riding a breaking wave.

Perspective shapes the way we experience the world.

By removing familiar subjects from their original context and reconstructing them through scale, depth and material, I create scenes that shift between reality and perception.

The miniature becomes a way of looking closer — at movement, at our surroundings, and ultimately at ourselves.

THE ARTIST

Movement has always been part of my story.

For more than two decades, my professional life has revolved around the human body, movement and physical freedom.

Working as a Personal Fitness Coach and later as a diving instructor shaped the way I see our relationship with ourselves and the environments we move through.

Becoming a father brought creativity back into my life. What began as a personal return to making gradually became another way of exploring questions that had been with me for years: How do we move through the world? How do we treat our bodies, our surroundings and the spaces we share?

Today, these questions find their expression in my art.

A matter of how we move.
A matter of how we see.
A matter of how we choose to leave our mark.
